1.Hurting - SG Lewis feat. AlunaGeorge
UK producer, SG Lewis has recently released a new EP, titled Dark, and the project as a whole, feels very complete. Our favorite track is “Hurting”, which at first glance sounds like a sad ballad, but then quickly picks up, to become a dance club hit.
With sparking electric sounds and Aluna’s soft voice, it truly is a match made for discoteca heaven. This track is about Aluna’s regret of hurting her significant other and that she is now hurting herself, to get the love back:
“Hurting for your body
The lyrics give you an intriguing story to think about, especially when you’re sweating on the dance floor.
When you take a listen to this track, you minus well also give the whole EP a good listen; SG Lewis has a brilliant way of blending electronic music with hip-hop, as well as other upbeat genres. We are thrilled to see more bodies of work similar to this style, from Lewis in the near future. And we hope that this single, continues to move him into other circles of artist collaborations, because AlunaGeorge was a perfect match!
2. Sundress - A$AP Rocky
It’s not always a pleasant surprise when an artist completely switches up their distinct musical style. However, when it comes to A$AP Rocky, it was somewhat, overdue. The rapper and fashion mogul, released a new and very different single, by the name of, “Sundress”. The sound is more of a throwback to the 70s, than his previous hits; featuring a sample from Tame Impala’s, “Why Won’t You Make Up Your Mind (2010)”. Rocky seamlessly switches from singing to rapping, while he continues to pay homage to his traditional trippy flowing rhythm.
The lyrics are about A$AP trying to deal with feelings for a girl; one that is currently with a new man.
“You took some time away from me
With the less than successful album, “Testing”, that was released Spring 2018, we have our fingers crossed that this new single will help put A$AP Rocky back on top; in being recognized for his long standing production name and genre defying talent.
